A meeting of leading industry players signalled their support for the Speak to the future campaign today. A breakfast meeting was held in the City, attended by senior figures from organisations including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Linklaters, Herbert Smith and London Chambers of Commerce. The event was hosted and chaired by Richard Hardie, Chair of UBS. A number of actions are planned as a follow-up to the event, including the recruitment of ambassadors to speak out for languages.
“Many of those educated and born in the UK simply aren’t aware of the advantages language skills can bring”, said Richard Hardie. “Employers need to speak out and we are committing to doing this as part of the Speak to the future campaign.”
