Imperial College recently announced its decision to transfer or close its Translation Studies Unit for strategic reasons. If the unit is not transferred to another institution, it may be closed from 1 October 2013.
As the only MSc in Translation focusing on scientific, medical and technical translation, this decision could potentially leave a gap in the overall provision of postgraduate translator education and research in the UK.
A 30-day consultation period commenced on 18 January, during which time it is hoped that as many people as possible will share their views on the proposed transfer or closure. There is also a petition to save translation at Imperial College, which you can sign via the following link.
